Grammar and Mechanics?

Hi all, I have been absent from the boards forever with major home renovations going on.  However, it is time to buckle down and do some school planning.  I have a 10yo boy who will be in 5th grade this year.  We have not done much of any grammar yet other than just discussing parts of speech.  I am desperately trying to find something to use this year.  My big concern is that I am finding a lot of grammar suggestions such as Analytical Grammar but when are they supposed to learn all of the mechanics of punctuation, capitalization, etc?  Do I  buy something else for that?  As I add in written narration this year, do I just correct his work and point out proper punctuation etc?  My brain is on overload with all I need to figure out so help in this area is much appreciated!  Thanks.

For us, we just do simple mechanics while we do dictation.  We used Spelling Wisdom for a couple of years, but then we discovered the offerings through Bravewriter and that’s what we use now.  Each week when we prepare for the dictation we talk about punctuation, capitalization, etc.

I wanted to point out that is what we will be doing also this year as Jawgee described!  Just incorporate it into our other work as to not add more work.
