I was going to use Heart of Dakota’s because her book choices are wonderful, however our library doesn’t carry a good portion of them, even with inter-library loan. I’m looking for CM quality books, no twaddle, no filfth. Thanks! We have had great success with finding them at our library. I know it may not be very CM, but my kids also enjoyed the McGuffy readers for many years. That would be great if it has readers in it. August 26, 2018 at 9:54 pm sarah2106ParticipantI often look at Sonlight books lists for ideas. This is also a great list. It is Sonlight books broken into time period and by grade level.http://homescool-ed.blogspot.com/2007/04/sonlight-books-arranged-by-well-trained.html?m=1 August 26, 2018 at 10:01 pm Wings2flyParticipantWe use mostly CM, but I was surprised in recent years to like readers from CLE (Calls to Courage is 6th grade reader) and the Pathway readers (Step by Step for 6th grade). Sorry I don’t remember the 5th grade titles. But they are worth checking into. There are samples online as pdf files and at Rainbow Resource. They have great character training and a variety of literature styles plus some poetry and Bible Scripture. I assign a reader twice per week. Otherwise, for chapter books I have used catalogs from Sonlight and MFW, but I read the one and two star reviews on Amazon, too. If you let us know better what you are looking for, we can give specific recommendations. August 27, 2018 at 10:42 am MonicaParticipantI guess I totally missed the boat on this one. My kids have never done readers – I wasn’t even sure what you meant. We strictly do books around the house and eventually chapter books (either that I assign or they choose). August 27, 2018 at 12:54 pm sarah2106ParticipantOops, I totally missed it to, like Monica, hahaI thought you meant 5th grade books for the student to read, chapter books. We don’t do “readers” either, like pathway readers, once reading gets easier. August 27, 2018 at 10:12 pm Morgan1ParticipantOn the rod and staff website from milestone books they have the 5-8 grade pathway readers. Very wholesome books. The also have Christian light readers. Much longer books but very wholesome still. My son uses both. September 1, 2018 at 6:48 pm HSMom03ParticipantThanks everyone! And by readers I do mean chapter books :).Viewing 11 posts - 1 through 11 (of 11 total)The topic ‘Grade 5 Readers’ is closed to new replies.
