So….11yo dd received a Nintendo DSi for Christmas, and this morning she asked me if you can download books to read on it! (Yay! She wants to read!! And this from a not-so-fluent reader who struggled last year.)

Does anyone know anything about this or where I could find out? My preliminary search online only yielded confusion. Of course, that could just be my brain’s reaction to the mess in the living room following the onslaught of gifts from their dad, their grandparents & faux-grandparents, aunt & uncle, cousins & second-cousins…..aughhh!

According to my son and husband….you can only take pics and play games on a DSi, they think.

I finally found a “game” you can purchase that has 100 classic books (Shakespeare, Dickens, Alcott, etc.), but I really think I’m going to persuade her to wait until we can perhaps get her a Kindle of her own. Her 13yo sister received a Kindle Fire from her dad, but I think she would be satisfied with a lower-cost Kindle just for reading.
