    Hi there,

Does anyone know of any good Christian church history books?  I am looking for myself, but if you know any for children too that would be neat.  I am not interested in books that glorify any one area, like making it seem like the protestant church or the catholic church and its leaders are perfect.  I would like an honest report on both sides, warts and all.  Thank you for any help!

I’d suggest Fire Upon the Earth, by Norman Langford for you.  The reading level is high school to adult, imo.

The Westminster Bookstore has many good books for kids (and adults) regarding church history.

There’s a wonderful set put out for kids by Mindy and Brandon Withrow

I cannot recommend that set highly enough!! And there’s also this one for younger kids:

One that I found helpful for me, but I don’t usually recommend for students, is Christian History Made Easy by Dr. Timothy Paul Jones. It’s published by Rose Publishing. Looks like they have made a whole DVD course to go with it recently. When I got it, it was just the book, ISBN 9781890947101.

The 100 Most Important Events in Christian History, by A. Kenneth Curtis, J. Stephen Lang, & Randy Petersen is nice to have on hand. If you want additional information of the events during the time period, Jewish Literacy, by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin is excellent.
