We used some of Doorposts materials when our older children were young. Looking back, it seems like it focussed more on what they were doing wring than what they were doing right. Maybe that was the way I was using the charts/books, but it seemed that the focus was catching them doing something wrong, and going to a chart for consequences (punishment.)
I think (read hope) switching to a focus on character/habit training with the expectancy focus is a more grace filled approach. It sets them up for success instead of failure.
Try reading ‘Gentle Measures’. I think the first half is beyond brilliant – I’m in a section now that I don’t relate to as much but I need to get back to it to see how it ends. I believe it is free on Kindle.
