I’m new to SCM after homeschooling for six years.  I’m very excited about the switch and have been busy planning the year.  My kids are age 11, 8, 6, 3, and 1.  I’ve looked on past forum topics to find the answer to my question, but I can’t find almost anything.  I’m wondering if the GOAL bible study would work well for the ages of my children or if I should wait until they are a little older.  I think my oldest would get something out of this, but not sure about my younger ones.  Do you like this program?  I do think it’s good to read straight from the bible, but we also do The Children’s Story Bible and some other bible story books for the little ones.

    Thank you,

    Mindy

We’ve been using GOAL over the past year. I can’t comment on how much your 1 & 3 year olds will participate, but our youngest 7 (6 when we started) has been able to listen and has earned to identify the GOALs during our study. The others are 13, 18, and older. The are capable of doing it one their own, but we love the discussion aspect of it all and it has helped us to be able to encourage one another based on our study.

I have not used Goal yet, but I wanted to give you a warm welcome. When you search SCM, be sure to also use the google link at the bottom of the search results. Also use tags links for related posts on that topic. So click GOAL on top right here.

    What are you switching from?

Ok, thanks.  I think we will do it this year.

Thank you for the welcome!  Thanks for the tips about searching for topics.  I’ve always loved literature, but we did more of a classical style.  I was using Veritas Press and doing grammar, spelling, etc.  I’m diving into this after much research.  We will be doing nature walks, living books for science, copywork, dictation, narration, geography, handiwork, art, music, and poetry study, etc.  I’m very excited!
