My dd, 9, is finishing Princess and the Kiss this year. What development book would be appropriate for her at this age? I think she is too young for Beautiful Girlhood and “So Much More”, so what’s in between and has the same type of ‘womanly development’ as Boyhood and Beyond is to a boy’s development.

Anyone use the series “Personal Help for Girls” from Pearables? Some of their stuff I like, and some others I don’t, so I’m leary.

SHould I just stick with “Ten Girls who…” series?

Well, here’s what we’re doing for my 9 year old daughter, for what it’s worth. She’s reading through YWAM missionary biographies and we’re going through Girl of Beauty by Carol Fiddler right now. She’s read about Corrie ten Boom and is currently reading David Livingstone.

Some other books I like for this category for a variety of ages:

    Polite Moments  by Maldaner

    Hedge of Thorns (Lamplighter)

    Munro Leaf’s series that includes

    • How to Behave and Why
    • Manners Can Be Fun
    • How to Speak Politely and Why

We only have 3 boys but thought I would suggest Queens “Young Ladies of Virtue” series.

Though we’ve not read them directly, we have read  their “Young Men of Valor” series, which is for boys, and they are absolutely WONDERFUL!

Thank ya’ll very much! Ya’ll simplified my life in one small way! I also rediscovered the Emilie Barnes Manners book for young girls, too. My son already has the boy version.

Oh, yes, I forgot the Emilie Barnes book. I will have to pull that one back out.
