I’m looking for ideas/feedback on an unusual situation. I have a rising junior who “did” geometry this past year with an awful curriculum (meaning, not well-suited for self-study) — she only made it halfway through the book and certainly does not want to spend any more time on geometry, but we both know she needs to. She is continuing on with Algebra 2 (LoF and Lial’s, both of which are new to her but she’s enjoying and understanding well), but still needs to cover more geometry.
Although I’ve not been a user/fan of TT, I was thinking that might be a good match for her at this point: based on the samples and TOC I found online, she should be able to skim through the first 50 lessons or so, then dig in more to the latter-half. Hoping she can be done in a couple of months. (??) But then someone mentioned MUS Geometry, and now I’m wondering….
Does anyone have any suggestions for what would work well in this situation? Math has never been her favorite subject. I anticipate sticking with the newer LoF/Lial’s combo for any other math she does, but felt like LoF Geometry would be difficult for her to jump into at this point. Yes, I must admit that the attitude for geometry is to just “get it over with” at this point. She wants to know enough to be able to legitimately call it a math credit, as well as enough to do well on the ACT/SAT. Not the best attitude, but I can understand her frustration. I do not feel adequately knowledgeable about either TT or MUS Geometry to know which would best meet her where she’s at.
Wishing we had made this change MONTHS ago! <sigh>
