I am contemplating getting the genesis through deuteronomy handbook to do module 1 with my 6yo. From those using it or have used it, is it necessary? It would be kind of nice to have something laid out, but I’m trying to justify the expense. I’ll be having a new baby, plus toddler come Fall and I’m trying to make less work for myself. Thoughts? How would I go about making a reading plan/schedule if I don’t get the handbook?
Even if you only use the book for Bible reading list it is totally worth it. The format is so nice to have for a guide with reminders for recalling previous lessons or narration. It is also set up so you can easily sustitue, add, or omit resources and work ahead or slower without having to worry about something set up with lessons delegated Mon. – Fri.
If you are really concerned about money you could get away with out. There is not a lot of extra reading for that mod for that age range. It really is very inexpensive, though, especially as a down load. I would really recommend a story Bible for a 6 year old.
Thanks, 4myboys. We are pinching pennies here, but I did go ahead and get it. I found a used copy which helped. I have the Vos story bible already, my daughter loves it!
We are using this plan for ancient history for my DS for 1st grade next year. We are using the Egermeier Story Bible as the spine, and just adding in a few books here and there targeted at 1st grade.
Thanks for posting that link mama_nickles! I’d forgotten about that site…it will help me decide where to fit in some extra books! We espeically love the Science in Ancient Egypt/Rome/etc. series, but I wasn’t sure exactly when to schedule them in!
