Anyone have any game ideas for pre-schoolers, to learn letters of the alphabet & sounds? Are there any good pre-made games out there? Thanks a bunch!

We like to play Alphabet Go Fish (can buy this pre-made) and instead of saying, “I need a B,” I would have him say, “I need a ‘buh’ ” where he’d have to say the sound instead of the letter. He loves it!

We just played an informal game that my daughter “invented” when she was about 3 years old. At first she would ask what letter every word started with. Then once she figured out most of the letter sounds, (with some help from Starfall as well,) she started reversing it and would ask me to tell her a word so she could figure out the beginning letter. Eventually we switched to the ending sounds, then middle. This was all before we did any formal work on reading.
You could easily introduce this type of play. Just a caution, though, it drove me crazy trying to think of new words for her all the time. She wanted to ‘play’ the game continuously when she was trying to learn how to read.

This has such GREAT reviews, that I decided not worry if it’s using the TV. 🙂 I bought it as a Christmas gift for my younger ones. Someone else on this forum also recommended it too.

I also just do simple bingo with a homemad board of letters that I want to work on. After winning a row, they get a jellybean or something fun to do like help me make lunch. 🙂

my nephew started writing complete alphabets and counting upto 20 at the age of two……….he was not playing any kind of games but was just watching different youtube videos related to that……….now he is 4 years old and doing great at school 🙂
