My 17 year old enjoyed the books in the SCM module on WWI and is interested in further reading on her own time. She is particularly interested in the European political issues pre and post WWI, particularly in Germany between the wars as well as the development of the Soviet Union.
She has excellent comprehension and reading skills and could handle any adult book, so I’m looking for recommendations of books that you may have enjoyed yourselves.
Assignment in Brittany by Helen Mac Innes (her age to adult) and Enemy Brothers (middle school to adult) by constance savery are probably my 2 favorite WW2 stories so save for later:)
I will have to do more thinking about WW1…. I will ask my sisters in law who have read everything decent they can find:)
My sis in law couldnt think of any WW1 novels other than the singing tree which I assume she has read. She did say that Maud hart Lovelace (the author of the Betsy Tacy books) wrote some interesting articles while she was in France? during WW1.
Brock and Bodie Thoene have great historical novels as well. Because of the historical accuracy some of their books have been used for college history classes.
The Shiloh series is sometime around/after WWI. These characters are somewhat connected to characters in the Zion Covenant Series. Covenant covers WWII.
