We are studying Swimming Creatures for science and yesterday after we read about Blue Whales not living with or traveling in PODS, I asked for narrations from DS6 and DD9. They gave narrations and we were about to move on when my youngest, who is not required to narrate, said “Mommy, you forgot to ask me what I know!” So, I asked her what she learned and she said “I learned that Blue Whales do not live in PIES!”
Ha!! That reminds me of when my oldest was in the Blue’s Clues stage of life and he had just watched an episode on nocturnal animals. My husband started to explain to him that another word for “awake at night” is nocturnal and asked him if he could think of an animal that is awake at night. He answered an owl. So Ken sent my son to tell me what he had just learned. Nathaniel comes proudly up to me and says “I learned that an owl is a turtle.” So my husband says “no no no no….not a turtle – NOCturnal.” Then Nathaniel turned to me and said “ohhh – Mama, I was wrong. An owl is NOT a turtle.” Lol – we figured at least that was accurate!
Love it! I love these kinds of stories. Our latest comes from our 8 yo dd. We avoid anything artificial in foods, and talk often about nutrition, so I’ll often say at the grocery store, when asked for something (usually some kind of meat) “sorry, it has nitrites in it…” . Well, lately, our daughter has said a couple of times “we can’t eat that; it has termites in it…” I almost don’t have the heart to correct them when they say things like that! It’s so stinkin’ funny.
Thanks for the laugh, ladies-I needed it!!!
