Has anyone ever used Friendly Chemistry for High School Chemistry course? It says it’s more of a basic Chemistry. One of my sons wants to go into Aviation Mechanics and the other in Music so do I need a more advanced Chemistry? I know I’ll need Physics for the oldest.
I looked into it, but decided against it for my crew for various reasons. For my college prep son I decided to go with Dr. Wiles new chemistry (based on Apologia), and add Life of Fred chemistry.
For my daughter who is not college prep, I am going to follow Guest Hollow’s plan which uses cooking for labs also. I am also going to add the Chemistry 101 dvd, and ACE labs dvd.
I am considering it for my daughter. She would have to do it independently. My co-op uses it, in addition to Apologia’s, which will not work for her at all.
My son is using it in a co-op. I haven’t looked into it much at all, but the teacher will be giving the students the Apologia Chen test at the end of the year to see how the course stacks up. Her class has a few kids with learning issues and no STEM kids, which is why she chose it. I’ll update when the final tests are given, and there is z comparison to a more traditional Chrmistry course.
