Can anyone recommend something for Spanish for us that’s online and free? I’m just wanting something to get my kids (7th and 4th) independently learning as many words/phrases as possible before high school, maybe spending 30 min. per week. They are learning Greek w/dad, memorizing the 100 roots from English from the Roots Up, and using Analytical Grammar. Any recommendations for a program, and does my foreign language plan sound adequate? Our homeschool group has high school Spanish classes for credit that we’ll likely utilize in the future. Thanks for any input:) Blessings, Gina
Also here…if you’re kids are ok with Goldilocks http://www.gpb.org/salsa/term/episode they ffocus on just a coulple of words per episode and it’s geared to the younger set of kids – BUT there is a LOT more that can be learned form these. I’ve been doing Spanish casually along with my kids off and on for 10 years or more now, and I enjoy them and it’s good review for me still. Maybe even some new words for me now and then. These are free too.
The knowitall site mentioned above is really good…not sure on best order. I guess we just hop around according to interest. They learn! 🙂 I do have some other bookmarked, but haven’t really explored them yet. Here they are though – I probably found them posted here somewhere!
Yeah, I was thinking of having them do Salsa even though for youngers since they are pretty much beginners…but would probably have lots of ‘it’s baby-ish’ complaints:)
Our public library has “Mango” that is available to use for free through their website. It is an online foreign language program. Check your library’s web site. I’ve heard that many libraries are implementing it for their patrons.
Thanks…I’ll have to try Mango again. I subscribed to the neigboring town’s library a long time ago, but it doesn’t look like they have it anymore. Maybe another one does, if I can find it for free (or not too expensive!)
Anniepeter….thanks for the Babbel site….that looks very easy to implement. I only did the first lesson, but liked what I saw! We may just do a mix of the above suggestions. Thanks, ladies:)
