My husband put an antennae in the attic and we get many free channels in HD. We really don’t watch those channels much, though. We also have Netflix….great way to get older tv shows. I think $8 per month is a great daal:)

I haven’t found free, but if you have a decent internet connection, then you can streaming netflix ($8p/month) and I also stream amazon prime movies. The yearly fee is like $90, but it averages out to be $8 a month too. So I am paying $16 a month for our tv and we have missed our satellite at all!  Now for streaming options….if you have a tv that connects to the internet, then you are set. You can also use wii game system to stream them or a blue ray player can also do it or you can buy a Roku stick at walmart for like $50 and that is a one time purchase. It is about the size of a flashdrive that plugs into the hdmi connection on your tv and connects to your wireless router and is super user friendly.  On it, you can also watch free shows on hisotry channel, A&E, Lifetime etc. not everything is free though, but you can certainly search for free stuff. CBS has some classic shows on their website you can watch for free. Thinks like MacGeyver and I Love Lucy.

We have been cable/dish free for about 9 years and we have never looked back.

You don’t really miss anything. The news is on our phones and our computers these days anyway. Netflix and prime are much cheaper and you watch what you want when you want.

We bought the “as seen on tv” free tv antenna at Boscovs but it doesnt seem to work. What kind of antenna are you talking about Kayla and momto2blessings?  I would like to get PBS.

We have an AppleTV, which is about $100. We can stream Netflix and Hulu from it. There are other “channel” options on the Apple TV as well. There is a Smithsonian channel, and you can watch some videos for free. There is also the option to subscribe to sports channels if your family enjoys watching sports. You can also stream YouTube videos, either from the AppleTV or from your smart phone. We haven’t had cable since 2006 and haven’t missed it at all!

TBN channel on Roku and iTBN.org on computer has free shows, including all the Drive Thru History episodes and Fireproof movie.

http://tct.tv/watch-tct/watch-live has live stream tv to computer over Internet, includes kids channel with Bonanza, I Love Lucy, and more old shows. They have old movies in the evenings. Daytime is kids shows like Gospel Bill, Creation’s Creatures, and more.

We have an outside tv antenna. They are very large and have to be mounted up high. We had a chimney mount before we moved. You might use an antenna tower if you can find one. The antennas and tv signals are digital now, so be sure you do not use an old one. They can be purchased at home improvement stores. The reception you get will depend on tv stations in your area, up to about 100 miles away.

If you have DSL…I went to radio shack and got a converter to play from the computer to our tv ($35). PBS, History Channel, etc. often have episodes you can see for free. Worth every penny!

We have Rabbit Ears in the house and get all major networks as well as extras. We get about 20 channels. We got a fancy antena, but the basic rabbit eaes worked better.

We have a Roku for streaming Amazon Prime and Hulu (I like certain TV shows and Hulu is better for current TV series)
