Has anyone read this who could comment on their experience? My children are 6, 8, 8 and 10 and I’m wondering a) if this would be appropriate for their age-level and b) if it is a living book. Given when it was written, I might assume it to be a living book — as long as I can get ahold of one of the earlier versions — but I would love input from those who have read it.

My husband and I read this with our previous church (hubby read more of it than I did though). He can handle quite a bit and he felt it was pretty graphic even for adults. The torturous deaths are gone into great detail. So I would say definitely a pre-read and summarize for a brief object lesson or just wait till much older. Hope this helps!

00h — thank you for this heads up! On amazon reviews, several people mention reading it as children …but this is good feedback for me to weigh.

My sos were a bit older- 12 or 13ish, but we read Jesus Freaks by DC Talk. it was very inspiring but not as graphic as Foxes.
