I have been searching for a different science curriculum that better suited my 8th grader next year as she plans on going to a private, parochial high school for 9th grade. I just found a Middle School Living Science Curriculum with a study guide all prepared (so I don’t have to do it myself – which I have considered doing) from Sabbath Mood Homeschool. It has probably been mentioned on here already, but I don’t visit this forum as often as I used too. I am so PLEASED that I have found this. Others I have looked at are Supercharged Science, Apologia (which I have never been a fan of) and one other that I can’t recall right now. I plan on doing this once a week and add in an Astronomy DVD course that we were interested in last year. I am sure the author of this program is a member here as well possibly?
I really want to try this course out! I have checked out her suggested spine for this course, for preview and it is WONDERFUL. My only complaint: it’s out of print and it’s VERY hard to find. 🙁
Nicole is a friend of mine. We are using her guide and it is excellent. She is working on guides for elementary and high school as well. I wrote a blog post on it recently.
Yes, the spine is hard to find and pricey but worth the investment. Nicole’s guide is so inexpensive that it’s easier to justify.. Thankfully I have two copies in my library.
our county library doesn’t have it… But I was able to check it out through our inter-library loan system, but it’s only a 2 week check out, with 1 renewal. Sigh. Only problem with that is if the book gets lost… it’s a $115 fine!! LOL… oh the things we mamas do! 😉
