I found the following books at a local university. I wanted to see if any of you have used these books.
Stories Pictures Tell, Flora Carpenter, 1918 cw
The Complete Book of the Great Muscians, Percy Scholes, 1931cw
A First Book in American History, Edward Eggleston
American History, Arthur C Perry and Gertrude Price, 1913 cw
America’s Story for America’s Children, Mara L Pratt, 1901 cw
I know just because it they old does not mean it is worthy of reading. Before I jump down the rabbit hole and invest time in reading any of them, I was hoping some of you may have some insight as to whether I should check them out of not.
Julie, you may have to compare your titles to the book lists for on this website for each grade. Also, look around the Ambleside Online website. I only have a K dd so I am not much help.
Eggleston and Pratt are authors that are in the Yesterday’s Classics and Heritage History Young Readers Collection, but I am not sure about the actual titles.
You probably will need to check them out and pre-read them to get a good feel for them. They sound interesting, though, especially the Stories Pictures Tell. =)
