I see that it is set up as a 4-day week. So what do you normally do the 5th day? I was thinking that if we use it next year we could use that day for math drills/lesson, maybe finishing a science experiment… but what else?
I don’t use HOD, but when I used a 4 day schedule we did co-op, library, dr appointments, field trips, play dates, etc etc etc everything that would interrupt a smoothly flowing day the rest of the week.
I switched to the 4 day schedule when we used HOD a few years ago, and now I can’t imagine doing school any other way. We have participated in a homeschool co-op on Fridays in the past, but now we use Fridays for:
Composer study
Picture study and Art assignments
Nature walks/notebooking
Working on our Book of Centuries
Editing and Re-writing written narrations
Catching up on work that didn’t get completed during the week
HOD seems to already have poetry and picture study included, art activities, timeline work, and writing scheduled. LOL
We will do Nature walks, though, so that will be a good day for those. Maybe we will leave it a bit open, in case we have a tough week and need that day to catch up, too.
It’s great that they have it included in your week! We used it for the very early years, so maybe that is why I didn’t recall those subjects with HOD.
And, as CurlyWhirly mentioned, the library and play dates are nice to schedule on Fridays…Music lessons and gym or other sports classes would be good to schedule that day, too!
I figured it out! We will use the 5th day for handicrafts, nature walks/study, typing and a computer programming curriculum I found out about recently. 😀
