    Hi,

I will be starting 106 Days after the new year and was searching for poetry to go along with this. I found this website that I thought I’d share.

It is not classics but I think it will be a great addition to our studies.

    Sincerely,

    Penny,

Thank you for the linnk!  We are starting in January too.  Are you doing Module 1 also?  It would be so nice to do a “check in” every now and again.

    Hi,

Yes, I will be starting module 1 and 106 Days after the holidays. I think it will be great as we have been suffering from burn out lately.

Wonderful!  We are starting right up after the Holidays, so either Monday or Tuesday (January 4/5).  Anyone else out there starting?  Smile

ETA:  Our pace for Module 1 will be stretched out to last about a year and a half, so we might be behind some of you all.  We are planning on doing 106 DOC only one day a week to keep the bulk of our science time focused on nature walks/journaling and gardening.

We are starting Module 1 after Christmas too.

Do you think you could do 106 days of creation without Considering Gods Creation?  My boys don’t like to cut and color or paste so it didn’t work for us. I just wondered if there was enough in it to still get the program without that.

We are.  I looked at a copy of CGC and I didn’t care for it either.  I think it will be fine.  I was just looking through the handbook tonight and feel like it’s a great resource without it.  How old are your kids?  If they are over 9 or 10, maybe someone can pipe up and add their 2 cents on how to beef it up.

    Hi,

I will also be doing 106 Days without CGC. My daughter is only in 1st grade though but it shouldn’t be hard to add to this. I used the table of contents and went to my library website and found books that go with each topic. Experiments are already listed in 106 days but you could easily find more at the library and add to that. When you click on 106 days in the bookstore you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and see that others have asked questions which may help you. Sonya has stated that it is really not made to use alone but I think you can beef it up quite a bit with library books. I wanted to keep science simple and felt my daughter would enjoy this more(at least this year).

I hope this helps and have a Merry Christmas!Smile,

    Penny

Good thanks for all the comments.  My school age children are 9 and 5.  I have the AIG series, so we could use that but I also recently found a really neat science curriculum.  Its called the Elements and it teaches Chem. to 4th-8th grade.  http://www.ellenjmchenry.com/index.html  She has other sciences too but they are all for 4th and up range.  They really are interesting and speak conversationally.

You are going to love 106 Days.  We just started this in Sept.  My girls are young (7 & 4-they love science, I do not!) so I don’t supplement at home with much, mostly library books or related activities in our “activity drawer” that changes with the topics (ex a solar system puzzle, flower stencils).  We have home school science classes in our area from a few different places, a church, a private school, and a college, that we use from time to time for four week courses.  If you feel you need more substance for the older kids, check into local classes or clubs in your area that may fill any space for you.  Oh, a nature center and petting farm in our area also have classes and volunteer opportunities for kids.  I bet most people could find something interesting in their area-even a church member that loves to garden and could use a helper!  Hope you all enjoy this as much as we do!
