We are using the 106 Days of Creation which recommends the book Footprints on the Moon by Alexandra Siy. About halfway through the book (there are no page numbers) the author writes “[Scientists] learned that the Moon is ancient: about four and one-half billion years old.” and “The Apollo Moon rocks also suggested that the Moon was formed in a hot and violent crash after an early Mars-sized object collided with Earth. The Moon was formed from the dust and gas that flew into space after the crash.”  For some, these statements may contradict the purpose of teaching creation-based science. Just putting this out there as a heads up.

Good heads-up so parents are prepared. However, I would add that it’s  not a contradiction.

Teaching Creationism doesn’t mean exclusion of evolutionary theory, especially  for upper elementary ages, when critical thinking starts kicking in.

They have to be able to defend their views on Creation and explain why they disagree with the statement in the book.

Thanks for the heads up, clark4871. We try to put a notice in the lesson plans to alert the parent when a book contains evolutionary content, so they can be prepared to discuss or edit as desired. That one must have slipped through the cracks. Sorry about that.
