I’ve been watching the books and things CD and following along in the notebook.  I’m wondering if anyone has ever tried to follow the Charlotte Mason example schedule “to the T”.  Just curious.  I’m trying to decide if I want to try it just for a week to see what it’s like in real life.  Do you think you would use a timer if you were to try it?

Just remember in real life, most of us have children of different ages and developments in one setting. I am sure Charlotte’s classes were segmented by age, which does make it easier for smooth transitions to the next subject or activity. They problably didn’t have a crying baby in the middle of their timed lessons, like many of us homeschool moms do. 🙂 That said, I still try to use a timer to keep myself aware of a shorter lesson, but it is not my dictator.

Like simple home said, crying babies, nosy toddlers, washer/dryer buzzing, lunch to make at a certain time………  So if your kids are older, I think you could try it and see how it goes.  But if you have younger kids….  I am not brave enough to attempt it.  Tongue out

Same thing as simple home for a timer.  If I use one, we stop at a good spot, not right when it goes off.  Otherwise, I have 2 clocks in the schoolroom for me to constantly watch if I don’t want to have a timer beeping at me.  🙂

Good points ladies.  my kids are 10,7, 5, so no more crying babies–just wiggly kids. I may try it for two days and see how it goes.  I think it will take some preplaning and pre-lunch prep but I’m just curious enough that I want to give it a try.  I know we couldn’t do it long term as I don’t usually even look at the clock much.  Actually I was kinda hoping someone else would have already tried it and I could learn vicariously through them!  Smile
