I just finished this book by Margaret Jensen that my mom said I should read. It is about her mother’s experiences as a Norwegian immigrant married to a Norwegian immigrant pastor. Such a wonderful living book! I cried hard throughout the whole book, & I learned SO MUCH from Mama about life, living, joy, thankfulness, understanding, serving, & faith. Her life was one of simplicity and quiet obedience to God, & yet her hands touched hundreds and led others to Christ. I am going to have my kids read it as they get older – perhaps 9th/10th grade or so. Nothing bad in it at all. Just hope, mercy, and grace poured out from faith in her Lord.
As an extra bonus for me, the place where the author was born is the same town my great-grandmother is buried in, & she lived in Winnipeg, Canada, at the same time that the same great-grandmother went through there as an immigrant herself. Except that my grandmother is German. 🙂 The thought occurred to me that they may have seen each other, even if they couldn’t speak to each other.
I LOVE this book! I borrowed it from a friend and ended up buying my own copy. I need to read it again. I’ve told others about it too and am always looking for books similar to this. Really enjoyable.
Putting this on my wish list and noticed that the author is quite prolific! Has anyone read her other books?
I find that if I get to know an author, I generally enjoy all of their books. If this one is as wonderful as you ladies have expressed, I am very excited to read the rest.
