We finally had our first snow yesterday! It was more of a slushy, mushy mess, but we were all smiles anyway. My youngest (dd4) has been jumping out of bed for weeks to check outside and see if winter came overnight, so she’s the happiest of all, I think.
It all melted, but it won’t be long now before it sticks. Plus we’re happy the bears are almost denned up for the season. Much more fun to do nature study with no bears to worry about!
We’re in southeast Alaska, and it seems like the snow’s late this year. Some years we have measurable amounts on Oct 2 (my g-ma’s b-day, easy 4 me 2 to remember), but this year is late. It’s a rare year that we don’t have treat-or-treaters in snowsuits over their costumes.
I’m in Wisconsin. It’s nice to hear you so cheery about the snow. My kids are the same way, but I feel a slight amount of dread this year. A big part is that my husband commutes and I worry about icey conditions all winter long. I shouldn’t worry, but I do. I will say that the first few snows are so amazingly beautiful, though. I need to focus on the good.
Snow….snow….snow….snow….snow! Yes, I’m singing the dining car song from White Christmas. However, I am not planning on dreaming of snow. And I will likely be the one to have to plow 8 or 10 inches of ‘partly cloudy’ from our driveway this year. Not really complaining, though, because we are blessed to have a snowblower….although I think it is a bit older. I’d better start praying for our snowblower….
