First day of school traditions

    I was wondering what kind of first day of school traditions you all had. I wanted to try some new fun activities and thought I could get some great ideas. I plan on taking school pictures with my own camera, and maybe doing a scavenger hunt for the kids to find the new school supplies. I also thought it would be fun to make cookies and have them fill out a paper with their height and weight and ‘favorites.’ Anyone else have fun things planned? My kids are 10, 6, 3 20 months and #5 due mid September.

    Not a first day of school idea, but… We visited with some public school friends this weekend, and one of them mentioned that they were attending an open house this week at school. It made me think of doing and open house here, for my kids.  Before the first day of school, get out all the new materials, get excited together about the new stuff, new school supplies, etc.  Make some plans and lists – snack ideas, things like art projects that the kids want to do.
