It was our first day too. I hope yours went well!

Ours started off rough with baby girl not waking up happy, but this gave me more reason to PRAY, PRAY, and PRAY some more. My baby girl became joyful again, and Momma didn’t lose the joy PTL!

Our children all did wonderfully without complaining (HUGE PRAISE!!!). I had hoped to make it more EXCITING. I did have some new school supplies (a few great deals already found this past weekend :), which always excites them, and made strawberry pancakes! Yum!

I am thinking I might talk to DH about going out for ice cream or shakes after supper for 1st Day of School treat, especially since they all did so well in completing their work AND with good attitudes. Now I need to get them motivated for our 15-minute Chore Time. 😉 (and myself motivated too LOL).

Anyone else starting today besides me and Katrina in AK???

Thank you for your prayers. Some struggling with motivational my son’s part, but God has kept me peaceful, and I am thankful. We are going to go letterboxing and have ice cream after rest time. Overall, a better start than I expected.

must be a good day to start.  We finished summer camp last week so we got back into it today.  Not all subjects but basics.  tomorrow we will add on.  15 minute chore time is a GREAT idea. 🙂   we did take a lot of breaks so what was only two hours worth of actual work took alllll day.  I have twin 3 year olds and babysit a 2 year old so they had a good hand in interupting our first grade work. 🙂

we did have fun 🙂   we practiced I Can, I Ought, and I Will!!  amazing how a child will take the challenge to controll his/her own self  will if you give them the chance.  bitting my tounge and not lecturing her into submission, but instead challenging her to get her own will under controll was amazingly easy and affective!!  praying that this will become my habit!!

Hope you all have a great evening and a smooth, easy, joyfull day 2.

We’ve been adding 1 new thing a week so today we added in our Olympics unit study. We’ll be up to full studies by the end of August. I love doing it slow and steady because it gives us time to figure out where things will fit and adjust our routine.

Tristan, sounds like a great idea! I tend to jump in with both feet and eyes closed LOL!

Can you share where you found the Olympic unit study? We can’t wait for the Olympics to start, but making it more educational sounds like a great idea.

Yep, I got the internet linked one from Amanda Bennett so I don’t have to gather any resources unless I want to. I did a whole post about it on my blog today with fun pictures of my kids trying a few Olympic events at home. It’s here: http://ourbusyhomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/07/homeschool-summer-olympics-beginday-1.html

Just so you know, I’m an affiliate so if you click through my links in that post I’ll get a small credit. I’ve been an affiliate with her for a long time because we’ve used a LOT of her products. Love them!
