I live in Florida and have been using the CM approach with our son who is 7. My challenge is finding others that use a more gentle approach and want to get outdoors and enjoy life. Most homeschooling families are very rigorous in there studies and are running there kids to all these sport functions. It seems no one has time for play. I’m so glad that I found your site and I’ve been reading your posts for almost 2 hours. Any suggestions? I’m going to attempt to start a homeschooling group next year that focuses only on field trips, outdoor activites and non structured play. No Stress!!
Hi, I’m in Jacksonville and run a support group & CM style co-op – we have an option for those who don’t want classes and one for those who do. We try to make the classes very CM friendly. While not all of our members are CM homeschoolers, our co-op is.
Sonya is coming on 3/26 and 3/27 for a 2 day conference at my church. If you’re close enough, you should try to come. It will be great! If you’re from further away, but interested, you could stay with me. Another forum member is going to try to come and if so, she’ll be staying with me, too.
My sister-in-law and I are attending the conference in Jacksonville. I’m not from Florida, but she’s from Fleming Island. I know that’s close to Jacksonville. She’s not one to run her kids all over the place or to keep a rigorous school schedule. Maybe you can come to the conference and meet us!
Wow, thank you for such great responses. You all are awesome. I will talk with my husband about coming up. I’m from Ft. Myers but I’d love to meet some ladies with like minds. Thanks again. Toni
I talked to my husband and he doesn’t want me to drive the whole way alone, so we are all going to come (my son included). Any recommendations for hotels close by?
