Hi everyone! I just thought I would let you know about some fun bird opportunities that fit together this month.
Barb at Handbook of Nature Study ( http://handbookofnaturestudy.blogspot.com/ ) has chosen the theme Birds for this month’s nature studies and each week will be a different challenge. Sign up to get her posts by email and you get all the information and some articles and printables for it in a link at the bottom of each post when it arrives in your inbox.
Friday Feb. 15-Mon. Feb. 18 is the Great Backyard Bird Count ( http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/ )this year. Simple and fun – spend at least 15 minutes counting birds you see (and identifying), then enter your checklist on their site for each day you participate. You can do more than 15 minutes, you can do it at home or anywhere you want to go that weekend.
Then you can always make up a post about your bird studies for the month and submit them to the Outdoor Hour Challenge Blog Carnival at Barb’s blog (check the rules, she’s strict about them. For example, you must be sure to have a link to her or she won’t include your submission.) I think entries for that are due by the 27th this month and it posts on her blog the 28th. Information for all that is on page 14 of the PDF download I mentioned you can get through email.
Just thought I would share some winter bird fun. I know my kids are going to do some of this. Will yours?
Thank you!! We have a bird list hanging by our sliding door so that we can add birds to the list as we see them. I’m going to check out these other things.
