If your child can sit and listen to a picture book, he can sit and listen to a poem. You might select shorter poems with wigglier children, but you can recite poetry to infants, so any time you feel like reading poetry, go for it! Poetry is actually a literary form that many young children really enjoy, especially metered and rhymed poetry. I don’t think there IS a “too young” All you have to do with a huge collection liie FPO&N is choose poems of lengths and subjects your child might like. I have read from this book to children from infants to, so far, 17.
