ThreekidsmomParticipantWhat are your favorite living books about insects? I looked at Jack’s Insects, but my kids are only in second grade, and I don’t think they’re ready for that one yet. I’m also looking at one called The Insect Folk? Can anyone recommend that one? Thanks!
waynesweakervesselParticipantMy boys love the Christian Liberty Nature readers. My little boys are 7 and 6. They have both read the first 4 and love them!!! Lots about bugs and insects in them!!!
RainesParticipantI second the Christian Liberty Nature readers.
HollySParticipantWe like this nature guide for identifying bugs: http://www.amazon.com/National-Audubon-Society-American-Insects/dp/0394507630/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1399123252&sr=8-6&keywords=insect+nature+guide
It has color pictures instead of drawings or black and white pictures. The bugs are also organized by color.
We also enjoy the CLP Nature Readers!
pianogirl363ParticipantInsects Do the Strangest Things – Leonora and Arthur Hornblow
Ladybug – Robert McClung
Sphinx: The Story of a Caterpillar – Robert McClung
An Extraordinary Life: The Story of a Monarch Butterfly – Laurence Pringle
Smithsonian Backyard series books:
Monarch Butterfly of Aster Way
Ladybug at Orchard Avenue
Little Black Ant on Park Street
Daddy Longlegs at Birch Lane (not technically an insect, I know)
Firefly at Stony Brook Farm
A couple of these are out of print, but you may be able to find them at the library.
