    My nine-year-old daughter enjoys reading dog stories.  Any recommendations?  She has recently read Because of Win Dixie and Dash.

    Ribsy by Beverly Cleary
    Pick of the Litter, A Dog Named Kitty, and No Dogs Allowed by Bill Wallace
    Check the Animal Ark series by Ben Baglio. There are several dog books in it.

    If she can handle slightly harder:
    Old Yeller
    Where the Red Fern Grows

    We loved Ginger Pye and the sequel Pinky Pye (when the family gets a cat).  We also enjoyed Lassie Come-Home as a read-aloud.
