I’m wanting to give my little nephew (3 yrs old and high functioning autistic ) a Christmas picture book every year. His family is unsaved. All of our Christmas books are packed in a POD somewhere while we wait to find a house so I’m at a loss for titles.
I’d love the titles of your favorite Christmas picture books with a more godly theme. He gets enough Santa stuff already.
A couple of our fav’s are “The Crippled Lamb” and “Jacob’s Gift”, both my Max Lucado. Another is by The Voice of the Martyrs called “The Story of St. Nicholas: More than Reindeer and a Red Suit”.
Also, there were a couple book ideas posted on this thread
Angel, Angel what do you see? Is one of our favorites for the little ones. I can’t say enough about What Does God Want for Christmas? by Family Life today. Get the kit!
The Nativity, illustrated by Julie Vivas is my all time fav. The words are directly from the gospel and the pictures are terrific. It gives you a good sense of “great with child”.
One of our all-time favorites is One Wintry Night, by Ruth Bell Graham. We read this special book each year, and feel that it has always had appeal in some way to each of our children, no matter what age they’ve been; (this goes for adults, too!). The story centers on redemptive history with a fictional storyline built around it. The illustrations are amazing!
We also love The Greatest Gift of All, by Kimberly Rinehart. It is repetitive, and easy for young children to memorize. It is also funky to look at!
I just read The First Christmas Tree by Helen Haidle and The Legend of the Christmas Stocking by Rick Osborne. Both were amazing ! I could barely get through them without crying! Also, we love Little Drummer Mouse by Mercer Mayer. But, I live with 4 drummers…..so we are a bit biased!
