I don’t have any recommendations, because we are just doing Egypt. But, I was wondering if anyone has used Streams of History. I thought about using that for Greece and Rome. My daughter needs simplicity, and those books look like a good level of reading. For Ancients, I read the first part of Christine Miller’s book, but now I am just getting Egypt books from the library. I am getting ones that are a gentler reading. I will probably do the same for Greece, but I am not going to get into much of the Greek myths and all their gods. I am sort of following Learning Adventures unit studies. For a literature (historical fiction) read-aloud, Greek Myths is scheduled, but I will not read that book. I began reading it to my older girls when they did LA and I stopped partway through. I did not like it, and did not feel it was necessary to read all that stuff to young impressionable girls. So, as far as Greek historical fiction, a friend gave me a book called Theras and His Town by American Home-School Publishing. I also have A Triumph for Flavius and a book about the Trojan Horse. The latter two are scheduled in Heart of Dakota, and I have always appreciated the HOD author’s book choices. So, along with non-fiction library books about Ancient Greece, I will use these as read-alouds. Hope this helps.
