what are your favorite copywork books? I would like to buy some for my son, I am having someone buy for me at our homeschool convention this week b/c I am not able to go. I had the thought that I would just make his copywork for him (I have Startwrite) but I just don’t keep up well and I think I would do better just to buy something. What have you all used that you liked/didn’t like? And of course, the more affordable the better! Thanks! (oh and we just do the ZB style/basic printing for now if that matters)

Good question, I feel the same way about keeping up on making my own. I’ve decided just to buy copywork books. I was planning to put in an order for Queen since those look the best to me….any thoughts?

We’ve used Queens for years and love them!  They are for an age range and can be used multiple years by the same child if they are also doing copywork elsewhere—-very flexible and great CM style copywork:)  Gina

We love Presidential Pennmanship.  It goes through famous (and not so famous) quotes of all the presidents.  They have them in both print and cursive and many different styles of handwriting.

We love Queens here! And currclick.com has great, cheap copywork for a lot of different subjects and studies! You just order and download! The one my younger used this yr was copywork of animals. The older one used a beautiful scripture copywork with beautiful paintings and hymn copywork. The first is called A Treasury Of Bible Verses For Little Ones by Lighthome Publications. As a matter of fact, all of her copywork are wonderful!

I could spend forever at currclick looking at all that is available! Have Fun!

I looked at Queens and have a question (after I looked at a preview) – do they not have the dotted lines that younger children use? That is what I have used with him up to this point. Have you all used the plain lines with younger children? How has that worked? What age would you use the younger ones? I like the way they look but I am concerned it is “above” his level without the dotted lines. Am I making sense at all???? 🙂

Yes, my 7 yo dd had problems with that in the Queen’s Language Lessons book.  She needed those dotted lines for perspective, especially at the beginning of this school year.  Now she is getting to the point where she can form her letters correctly without them, but that is one of the reasons her LL book is almost empty.

My son just used lined writing paper (w/Queens)for his age. He was able to look at the book then copy onto writing paper.

As for the other copywork from currclick ..most do have lined paper and most have different levels of writing. For instance, one copywork book can be used for multiple ages. First tracer, large lined, smaller lined, and then cursive. HTH!

We have used Queens Printing With Pictures and Language Lessons without an issue, but these are all we’ve used, so they aren’t used to mid-lines. We love them! It’s actually the one consistent product we’ve used for almost 3 years.

Hmmm, I hadn’t actually noticed that Queen’s doesn’t have the middle line when I glanced at the preview. However I’m thinking I could just pencil in a middle line at first to help them get used to the Queen lines and then stop once they seem to be mastering their letter formation…..

Thanks to the OP and commenters. I have the same question. I too struggle with keeping up. My son used A Reason for Handwriting last year and I didn’t use anything like a book this year. He has asked to use a book again, but I want something different. I also need copywork for three of our five, and I just need something already laid out. Thanks for the suggestions!
