We’re enjoying Farmey Boy a lot, but we’re nearing the end. Another book we really enoyed was Viking Adventure? I’m looking for similar books to read aloud. This is for my ds, so no princess books, please 😉

Have you tried the other LHOTP books?  My DS who just turned 6 enjoyed the first book as well.  We are finishing up Farmer Boy right now also.  We have also read Winnie the Pooh this year.  Honestly, a number of the books recommended on the curriculum guide are great for boys and girls.  I have a DD8, and we just read them together.

My younger boys love Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Pinnochio, and Peter Pan. How’s that for an alliteration!

Mountain Born, Follow My Leader, The Wheel on the School, Charlotte’s Web, Little Lord Fauntleroy, The Year of Miss Agnes (this one is about a girl, but it’s very good – set in Alaska – story of what a good teacher can do for kids)…these were my favorites last time around, and I’m just about to dig them out for my next son!

We’ve read Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie. Is the rest of the series suitable for a 6 year old? Thank you for the other suggestions, I’ll have a look at them.

My boys loved the whole Little House series from start to finish.  We also LOVED The Wheel on the School.

Years ago I read the entire Little House series (except the last one) to my 3 and 5 year old boys. They enjoyed them all. But I tried reading them to my only daughter when she was 6, and we only got through the first 2. She thought they were just ok.
