    Hello!

ON Monday, my family starts our study of Middle Ages using the SCM study guide. I just realized that the copy of Famous Men of the Middle ages I have from Heritage History is edited by Haan and not by Shearer as suggested by the guide. I did a quick google search, and they appear  to be the same book just edited by different people. Is there any reason that I need to purchase the one by Rob Shearer?

Thanks so much for your help!

Sonya has mentioned that the difference is usually the first chapter or two have been revised and perhaps they added an extra one at the end, but I have never had a problem substituting HH or Memoria for Greenleaf. Within the text itself there might be a minor word change here or there, but nothing significant that I have noticed.

I have not used the MA book, though – just the Greek and Roman one.

Anna, you can read Rob Shearer’s explanation of the difference on his Greenleaf Press site. Hopefully, that information will help you determine whether you want to use the edition you have and tweak as needed or get the Greenleaf edition.
