mrsmccardell – I think the review was unfair on that topic. Or, at the very least I’d say that is a narrow way of looking at the “me” issue. The point that is emphasized is that we can’t expect to be the best mothers, teachers or wives that God calls us to be if we don’t look after ourselves both spiritually and physically. Now the author does put forth some ideas about caring for ourselves as woman and mother that I didn’t feel were the big answer for me (bi-weekly mother’s retreat for a day as one example). But if there were TWO or THREE ideas that I didn’t care for there were FIFTY that I loved, were inspired by, or felt called to explore further. To me, that made the book a winner.

I agree with Angelina.  I am not a mom who wants to get away all the time or even bi-weekly for an entire day.  But after praying and as I mentioned being in the book right now I do feel I would benefit from a quarterly day or even overnight in a prayer cabin.  I think it would be a good fit for me and I am hoping when I feel the Lord prompt me, that my dh will be on board.  But I do know some moms who need that on a very real monthly/weekly basis.

The book is NOT all about me.  I have really learned, as a OCD type of person, area’s that I need to grow and mature in.  I have really apprecited the section about Partner.  I think it is a great book don’t let that one review scare you!
