If anyone is interested – I edited this text that I had added to the scheduler and included a daily lesson plan that you could either use twice a week or four times a week. I made it public so if you search for “Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics Lesson Plan” you should be able to find it. I created it to cover 1 chapter over a 2 week time period. Each week there are 2 readings from the chapter and 2 days of notebooking and completing the Try This activities. If you only wanted to use it for the page breakdown you could unselect all of the NB & TT divisions. We’ll be doing reading one day and then the next day the girls will be doing the try this and then notebooking about it. I did NOT include all the try this, but I did include most of them. I entered a separate resource for doing the end of chapter experiments so those are not included either.

Thank you! Plan to use this resource in 2014. But I am curious…what would you say the age range for this book is? I am planning on using it with my 7th grader – is that about the right grade level for it?

We haven’t started it yet, but I would hesitate to use it for a 7th grader. I think the Young Explorer Series is recommended to 5th or 6th grade. You might be able to add some books to deepen the study, but it’s a pretty heavy schedule from the other books we’ve used in the past. I’ll keep you posted as we get more into it and let you know if it seems above and beyond my 9 and 7 year old or just about right.

My son got excited when he saw this advertised. He likes reading them (Young Exp. Series) on his own and will do the same with this one. He’s starting Ap. Gen. Science next year for 7th.
He marinates in them; absorbing the material like a leech. HIs personal exposure to it should help him when he gets to the “big boy” Chem. and Physics books in a few years.
I also saw on Jeannie’s site that all the books will be on audio within the next two years, with Anatomy already available.

Hello! We are using Apologia Chemistry/Physics in our tutorial for 7th graders, and it seems like the information learned and amoung of work is good for my dd. We decided against the General Science book because our 9th grade dd completed it in 7th, and was miserable. Now, I know that Science isn’t necessarily her favorite subject, but I even felt it was too much for that grade level. That’s my opinion with is so far, for what it’s worth. Hope you all enjoy it!

Hi! For what it’s worth, I’m planning to use this next year for my seventh grader — we’ve generally skipped the “middle school” books in favor of continuing to study specific subjects in science. It looks like it will be perfect for him. My 8th, 11th, and 12th graders will probably listen in on a good bit of it, since it will be relevant to the classes and topics they’ll be studying.

Whoops! Just realized I was taking about a different book, “Exploring the World of Chemistry” by John Tiner. Sorry, and I will check out Apologia Chemistry/Physics as well. We have had good success with Apologia in the past. Sorry for my mistake!

Do you still use/plan on using Apologia for high school? I’m not sure my oldest will be ready for General next year, but I like the idea of Apologia to prepare them for college classes.
