I am looking for some new exercise DVDs and I thought I’d ask for some suggestions. I would really like to find some that are safe for my children to view if they are around while I am doing them. Sometimes the women dress in such scanty clothes I cannot use them if my husband or kids are around so I’ve had to toss a few. Also, I would like it if the language was clean. I know I had a Jillian Michaels one where she used a curse word. I don’t want things like how sexy my legs will be, or whatever. Music is also an issue – some of it has been so suggestive or coarse.
🙂 I do have Leslie Sansone’s workouts and while they are perfectly acceptable for viewing, I am kind of bored with them and they aren’t very challenging.
I particularly love dancing 🙂 Especially ballet inspired moves. I like tae-bo type stuff. I like fun! I would love some yoda DVD suggestions that aren’t too weird too. Just the basic moves and cues and no meditation or spiritualism stuff. I really can’t stand Denise Austen’s videos.
TTapp is what I have started using on the reccomendation of others. She’s dressed well and also there is no music to it. The only talking you hear is her telling to keep everything in lymphatic position. You would have to go on her website to understand what I am meaning. You could do the Total Workout which runs about 45 minutes long or even just do her 15 minute one depending on your level of fitness. You just keep using your own body so there is no weights or anything to get. She says encouraging things like Yes You Can. Anyway a thought for you to look into. This unfortunately is not dance type moves though.
I’ve been searching for decent videos for a long time, and its tough. I love to do Zumba dance but have had to weed through several of the videos to find the ONE that doesn’t make me uneasy.
You mentioned you were looking for a yoga exercise DVD. Have you heard of Praise Moves – its an alternative to yoga. I’ve been doing it about 2-3 times a week for the past year and love it. You can look around on the website http://praisemoves.com/.
I have two Denise Austen videos, and while they work great, they are hard to push through her personality:) I think unfortunately the things you’ve mentioned that you would like in one video don’t exist:) It’s either cheesy, or immodest, or not hard enough, inappropriate music, etc. I really enjoy yoga and find it to be very challenging and get results that way, and I like any Pilates yoga by Mari Windsor. Crunch videos are usually pretty bad with clothing, but the Crunch Joy of Yoga and Fat Burning yoga aren’t focused on anyone’s outfit, if that makes sense. However, even these videos have people in tight clothing, it isn’t low cut or things like that, but just tight sports clothing. I really work out best with videos since we don’t have any exercise equipment, and have just realized I need to do them in the morning before my son is awake, and my husband knows if he happens to still be home in the morning not to look, he just calls if he needs me and I turn it off. Best wishes:)
@Heather, Would you mind sharing the exact dvd you have from Praise Moves?? I am really interested in yoga (flexibility/energy/low impact) and would really like to try one of these but unsure which to choose.
@my3boys, just to clarify PraiseMoves is not yoga but an alternative to yoga. You can read more about that on the FAQ page here. The one I have is this one, but after awhile I got to know the moves, and could just do them on my own without the dvd. I’d love some of her newer ones, however. There are many to choose from.
Thanks Heather. I understood that it is an alternative, and actually that is more appealing to me anyway. Thank you for the info…I can’t wait to check it out and hopefully get something soon.
Blessings.
