Has anyone seen an actual copy of the ESV Seek and Find Bible?  What did you think of it?  We are thinking about getting dd her first ‘real’ Bible for her birthday (she will be 6 in a few weeks).  Or any other recommendations for a good ‘real’ Bible that will be appealing to a child without having too many silly ‘extras’?

    Thanks,
    Jen

I JUST THIS WEEK received these for two of my kids. I ordered for my 7 yo son and for my 4 yo daughter (saving hers for a couple of years). It is lovely. I love the format, the text size, the maps, etc. and esp. like that it has 120 of the great stories of the Bible in easy to read kid language with a picture for each one. These will be great for drawing him into the word as they are placed by the scripture. We ordered the blue and had his name engraved, however, the cover is ridged at the bottom. You can read the name, but it isn’t as clear as it would be on a flat surface. I think this is perfect for that age.

    Blessings,

Our children just use a King James version of the Bible once they are reading and studying with the family.  It’s as ‘real’ as it gets!

I should add that the ESV Seek & Find will carry my kids through for many, many years. It is not too kiddie.

It is the full Bible in the ESV translation, one of the most literal translations available, but more readable than the KJV imo. I know that many poeple are happy to use KJV for a variety of reasons, but our family prefers the readability of the ESV. The Seek & Find is in a font-size that makes it pleasing for children to read. I find that the pictured Bible stories will be a great bridge from simpler Bible story books to reading the actual scripture.

I got this one for my 8 yr old! He loves it and so do I. Wished I had gotten one for my 6yr old…got him another.

Lots of questions, info, maps, words to remember, Bible Times, live it out in your life. It is the KJV. I believe they might have another translation. NOT kiddie at all!

I also got one for ds8 this past Christmas. He seemed pleased with it and we’re working on him trying to follow along when scripture is being read at church – esv is the version read aloud at church most often. He is still learning to read, so it will be a while before he can sit down and read it himself, but as was mentioned before, may be able to read the Bible stories a little sooner, so I like that those are included. I also like the character profiles and the illustrations. It is a very nice first Bible and one he will be able to use a long time since it is not very ‘childish’ or “for babies” as he would say. 🙂
