We use a publication called Examine the Scriptures Daily. I have entered it into the Scheduler page. My question is how to handle a resource that is used every day, 365 days a week, short of entering in 365 “divisions”. Is there a better, faster, more efficient way to handle this? Thank you. Amy
Hi, Amy. I’d be happy to brainstorm some options for you. Could you tell me a little more about the resource? Is it divided into any kind of sections? For example, does it have Units or Chapters, or do you read through each book of the Bible in a certain order?
If you have a link where I could see a sample of the resource, that might help too.
What I’ve done is title a resource “Scripture Memory” with no division and schedule it for M-F. Then I click “worked on” and it shows up again the next day.
Another thing, you can edit the resources you enter – I plugged in Easy Grammar for my daughter put only added divisions for 3 weeks of work. I can go in and edit it when the 3 weeks comes to an end and add more divisions.
Sonya – this is a feature I’d like to see on the wish list – the ability to have a field to enter “chapters 1-365” (or whatever) and have the list of divisions pop up – so each would not have to be entered manually.
It’s a great idea, Gem, and it’s already on the wish list, yes. There isn’t a way to do that currently, but I would love to have it!
RE ideas for entering this resource:
With the new format on the Daily Plan, those Worked On checkboxes can really add up after a while and take up a lot of space. When we were limited to seeing only 2 weeks into the past, all the Worked On checkboxes were contained. But now that we can have unlimited “hindsight,” all the previous Worked On boxes stay on the page. So I’m trying to think how you can divide the resource somehow to keep it from getting unwieldy. Here are the options I can think of right now:
Enter all 365 divisions. It would take alot of time at the start, but be very handy throughout the year.
Enter 52 divisions called “Week.” So they would show up as Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 on the Daily Plan. You could then check off Worked On each day that you did the Daily Text that week, and Finished on the last day of that week. You could also add a Note with the references or Daily Text numbers or however you want to note exactly what you read. This way you would have only 6 Worked On boxes to deal with before hitting a Finished one to clear them off your Daily Plan page.
Enter 12 divisions called “Month.” With this option, you would have 30 Worked On checkboxes taking up space before you cleared them out with a Finished at the end of each month. Again, you could add a Note with particulars.
Enter no divisions and just click Worked On each day you read the Daily Text. This would be my least favorite, since you would end up with 364 checkboxes taking up space before you could clear them out of your Daily Plan page with a Finished at the end of the year.
I like the scheme of entering “week” for the divisions. This would work well for my resources like “Multiplication Practice”. The checkboxes are a pain – mine go off the screen on the left and I can’t click the little arrow to make them go away. I need to make them go away by starting a new resource for mult. practice in March with these new divisions.
