I don’t know where to begin. We are doing SCM guide this year but Eng. for the Thoughtful child is to young. They haven’t had any Eng. or Grammar. They have read alot. The 12yr.old can write and spell well just from reading unlike the 14yr.old. They need to learn oral and written narrations, spelling dict., and Eng. Grammar. I don’t know if I should start with Junior Analytical or First Lang. Lessons, or Serl books. I have the Primary LLessons but have heard that it doesn’t cover “enough” material or enough meat. I have heard that SWBauer writing is NOT CM so that is out. I want to get as close to CM and learn alot because we need to get going here. The 14yr.old has the maturity level of 12. She won’t be going to bible college when she is 18 but probably more like 20 but I don’t want to dumb things down for her.
I would really suggest that you start out with what you have on hand especially since the 14 yo has a younger maturity level. This would be a gentle introduction and then perhaps next year you could try Our Mother Tongue which is VERY CM, thorough, and gentle.
Actually I don’t have Primary Language lessons. I use to have it.
I have Intermediate Language Lessons. Will this work this year? It seems I might need a little more. I will look at Our Mother Tongue. I have never heard of it.
I have Understsanding Writing and is it really CM? How do you use it as CM way?
Thanks!
