I will be using ELTL level this school year with my kiddos ( 7 & 9 ). I did not buy the workbook , I was hoping to do without it. My question is to those who use it without the workbook – how do you do the lessons ? Do you do all of it Orally ? Do you write each lesson on a whiteboard/ chalkboard each time? I had purchased 2 composition notebooks and was originally just going to enter each lesson & portion of copy work into their workbooks for them to do . But then thought it might be easier if before each lesson I just write it on our white board for them to do together. Just curious as to how others utilize ELTL without the workbook.
And do you read the books to them or do you utilize audio versions through Librivox ?
I used ELTL with my 3rd grade son last year. We did all of the lessons orally and, because he loves audio books, he listened to all of the literature selections. I got all of the books from Librivox.
We didn’t do the written narrations because he is not quite ready for that. This year I did get the workbook because I am going to do away with his other copywork and use ELTL exclusively. Also, Level 3 includes diagramming sentences and I’d like for him to have all of that together in one book.
