Election year & Newbie Civics, Govt?

I’m hoping you can help me formulate a question and answer it (sorry).  Roughly 6th – 8th grade, first time around for civics/government.  As this is an election year, and I’ll have roughly 2 election years with them before they are “off and away” – I’d like to take the opportunity to use this year to use current events/the election cycle with our schooling.

I’m in the dark with which products to turn to in support of introductory and supportive teaching.  Would really appreciate the guidance.  I’m combing through older posts now, but also wanted to know complete “newbie” suggestions.
