I had a resource that I had added (Mark Kistler’s Mini-Marshmallow Art Lessons) and I had only filled in the lesson names for the first 40 lessons or so, originally. Our kids have nearly finished that many, so I edited the resource to add a bunch more. However, they do not show up even though I did click ‘save’. Since I checked the share with other users box, I see the lessons I added if I search for the resource. What should I do to get it to show up on our organizer without having to delete the one I have and re-schedule? Is it no longer possible to edit a resource that I am working with? Thanks for your help!
After you edit the resource, the Organizer doesn’t automatically add those changes to the Daily Plan until you re-save the schedule. That’s so that your Daily Plan doesn’t get messed up if someone edits a resource to, for example, delete chapters that you have scheduled.
To show the new lessons on your Daily Plan, find the resource in your Daily Plan, then mouse over the title. An “Edit Schedule” link should appear. Click that and you’ll be taken back to the Scheduler where you can add the new lessons.
Thanks, Jordan. I tried that, but the new lessons I entered do not show up. It is as if I never did it, except that if I look at the resource, I can see the dates of the edits and I can see all of the new lessons. They just won’t show up on the kids’ schedules or show up when I hit ‘edit schedule’ and try to select lessons. I’m not sure what to do at this point.
If I click the resource from our kids list, it is the one above. However, if I search for it on the bookfinder, I get this one: http://apps.simplycharlottemason.com/resources/detail/106972 which is the same resource, but the edit seems to show up as the default.
When I look at the Scheduler, it says the book has 15 chapters and that we are using all 15, but on the Daily plan, it only says, “The Horse and His Boy” without any chapter divisions. Bizarre.
I’m not sure if this is the same issue, but when I made a teacher’s resource and then decided to change the name, the newly edited name won’t show up. When I click the resource to edit it, the new name is there, but I don’t see it written that way anywhere else. I took this to mean that edits don’t really work.
Okay, I see what’s up with the first resource. The new lessons you added are in latest revision of the resource. If you edit the resource schedule, you’ll see a blue banner above the Scheduler with a message explaining that there’s a new version of the resource available. You can click the “more recent version” link to see what’s different, and then click “use the more recent version” to swap it out on your schedule. I noticed that you have the resource scheduled for three children, so you’ll need to do this on each scheduled resource.
The problem with The Horse and His Boy is similar, but it looks like somehow the resource got messed up when the divisions were removed. I’ve added those back, so if you use the method described above, you can add the chapters back to your schedule.
Shannon, can you give me a link to the resource, either here or through the contact form? I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out what’s going on.
Thanks, Jordan! I got the banner to show up for my drawing lessons and those are all fixed up. I couldn’t get it to show up for The Horse and His Boy, so I just scheduled it again since we’d just started it.
That was my mistake on the explanation for The Horse and His Boy. Because I copied it to a new resource, the Organizer wouldn’t know it was a new version of the old resource. Sorry about the confusion.
