Kristen that’s totally bragging! You pay less than the grocery store charges! THAT’S AWESOME!!!! You’re very blessed. We pay more, but I’m grateful that we’re able to afford it. You should tell us where you live and if your sister wants more customers. HAHA!
LOVE all the recipe ideas! We’ve used several of Kelly’s recipes (including the soaked granola) so good! Haven’t been on there for a while though – thanks for the reminder.
@missceegee, we love our chickens and their eggs! We have 20 chickens, 1 rooster and as of the last couple of weeks 16-18 eggs a day! We got the chicks from our 4H club. 10YO DS actually won Reserve Grand Chamption at our county fair! He is selling them by the dozen, and we also eat 10-12 at a time!
@JSpring, what about Denver Eggs? These are just scrambled eggs but you throw in peppers, onions, mushrooms, meat (optional but we like ham or leftover sausage from the day before), cheese, etc. Really you can add anything you like. We even will add fresh spinach sometimes. It is a hearty meal, and an easy way to add in veggies to your first meal of the day. We will eat it with some fresh fruit and we are very satisfied!
We also eat oatmeal and I’m trying to use only plain and have things to add in like raisins, craisins, brown sugar, pure maple syrup, etc.
This may sound crazy, but I have a 12YO son who lived in China until age 10. Sometimes we have something they eat in China daily and that is freshly cooked noodles (rice is best but you can use whatever you prefer). After they are almost done, you add in fresh eggs to the boiling water. Just crack them and add in, and they will immediately begin cooking. And then you can again add in fresh veggies–kale or other greens are good as are carrots, peas, etc. Sounds weird I know, but it is actually good for a change of pace. If you can’t go there for breakfast, it makes a quick and good lunch. Oh and we’ll sometimes add ham or chicken to this as well.
@ Rebekahy, I live in Wisconsin. And if I had to pay $4.00 or more for eggs and milk, I don’t think we would be buying it. You are right, I am very blessed to be able to pay what we pay. We have a good friend who is a farmer!
