My newly turned five year old is asking to do school this year so I have been collecting some things for him…..wanted to share a fun math game I found that is a really great pre-Right Start math option.
It is called Clever Bear Learns to Count and is made by HABA a German company, i ordered mine from Amazon. All of the peices except the cardboard playing cards are wooden and should last forever. It has a “counting threader” which is basically a little pre-abacus for counting 1-10. The different games included make use of the threader which encourages seeing 10 as two groups of five, one of the sets of cards shows fingers to represent the numbers (very RS).
Anyway, I was excited to find a math game that complimented RS and will help get him ready for it. RS is such a different way of viewing math that I feel lots of traditional preschool games don’t make sense if you are planning to go this route……hope this is helpful :o)
