  • I will admit that the beautiful weather today doesn’t hurt, but I must say that beginning my early morning time alone with a viewing of the Early Years DVD was a terrific boost to my day and the winter doldrums / rut I’ve been stuck in. And while there wasn’t anything “new” in what I heard (but I’m a seasoned CM mama), it was such a wonderful encouragement to me. My youngest is 5, so I debated if I should even buy the DVD because, well, it’s the “early years” and we’re moving through it all too quickly and it was another expense. But I am just SO glad I did!

Besides, there is really quite a lot that applies to kids beyond preschool, and it brought some much needed joy and encouragement to this too-often-tired mama.

(And my kids are all outside playing right now, so I’m only on the computer long enough to just post this and say THANK  YOU to Sonya and the WHOLE SCM crew who make this all possible! Now I’m heading back outside!)

My youngest child, a 6 yo boy, will be in 1st grade in the fall.  While he loves having books read to him, he still has yet to recognize his letters, never mind their sounds.  I have the book, the Early Years, but don’t have the DVD set.  Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether this DVD set would only be helpful for maybe a “week” Wink at his age for a very active boy who isn’t interested yet in words (or numbers too much for that matter).  I’m not worried (thankfully, he’s the 5th and not the 1st!), but I do want to begin to peak his interest, not squash it.  He IS interested in anything science related though!
