I think I’m missing a piece of my history program for next school year and beyond. I’m looking for 6th-12th explorers before Columbus. Do the Stories of America by SCM start in that time period. A bit confused here…thanks!
My3boys, we have used the SCM modules for several years, but are trying something new. Next year dd14 will use epikardia’s American history I and one of the things is called mini research topics for a variety of people, places, events. It would be easy to do with any program, I think. Might be worth looking into.
I think something happened in our history rotation that may have left out the Vikings (and others) and that is where I’m confused. I’m okay with my dc starting with the Columbus time period but I feel like we left something out…not quite sure what, though. I’d like my oldest to read about something prior to Columbus that I’m sure we have “missed” (as if we’ll get it all in anyway, LOL).
I just found my TQ Middle Ages guide and will look through that a bit to find what I think I’m looking for, LOL. I’ll look at SCM’s module 4, as well. Thanks for the replies, ladies.
Some early navigators or explorer books that I really love are Ralph and the Viking Bow, the Viking Quest series by Lois Walfrid Johnson and Brendan the Navigator which is even earlier.
