I’m assuming the SWR (or, is it SRW?, can’t figure it out) is similar to The Writing Road to Reading, by Romalda Spaulding. It uses markings, phonograms, the word list, spelling notebook.
Just wanted to say that I used it with my eldest and third child with excellent spelling results. Second child couldn’t deal with it and I was worn out by the work of it all. I used AVKO’s adult spelling profeam with him for quite a while it seemed to work, but memory is an issue with him, so virtually none of the approaches truly work for the long term. Never went back to TWTR with youngest two and I’m not seeing spelling ability success at all. Was considering a year of SW, but I’m wondering now if I’m spinning my wheels and just need to “do the time.”
Truth is, my kids want to spell well. Like the Sunday School post in another thread, it frustrates them because everything takes much longer when spelling is difficult. It’s just like math taking longer if you don’t know your math facts.
Not sure I’ve helped any, but to say I understand and keep learning right along with you.
🙂
